What it helps you do
Analyze an existing sitemap for an authorized public site. Limit page checks and preserve partial results; do not generate or publish a replacement in the first exercise.
Expected output
- Sitemap discovery evidence
- XML and URL validation report
- Prioritized fixes with clear sample coverage
Environment and setup
Upstream documents: Claude Code.
This source is a Claude Code plugin. Do not claim that its CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT paths or slash commands work unchanged in Codex or Cursor. A separate Codex port is mentioned upstream but is outside this review.
- Claude Code CLI
- Python >=3.10; upstream recommends 3.11+ for new installs
- Pinned repository runtime and shared scripts, not just the SKILL.md file
- Python packages in requirements.txt, including requests, BeautifulSoup, lxml and extraction libraries
- Playwright Chromium for JavaScript rendering/screenshots; setup may install it
Read the pinned original Skill instructions ↗ and setup documentation ↗ before installing. No automatic installation is provided by this site. Review a fixed version and its dependencies before running setup.
Costs and permissions
MIT skill with no per-domain fee. Claude/model costs and optional API usage remain separate.
Commercial API requirement: No for the core workflow. Optional enrichment extensions require separate accounts and may be paid.
Do not enable or call optional Google, DataForSEO, Firecrawl, or other extensions for the starter exercise.
- Fetches target websites and writes local reports.
- Setup installs a Python environment and may download Chromium; review pinned setup code before executing.
- The host agent's model may receive page content and local context. Local script execution does not mean all processing remains on the device.
- Full plugin includes other tools, hooks and integrations outside the scope reviewed here; source-reviewed is not a complete security audit.
A bounded starter prompt
Use seo-sitemap to inspect <URL>. Start with robots.txt and the sitemap discovery helper. Analyze only; do not generate, upload or submit anything. Limit URL spot checks to 10 and label this as a sample. Return the discovered sitemap URLs, parse errors, sampled URL findings, and a prioritized fix list. Ask before fetching an off-domain sitemap.
This prompt is an original teaching template. It has not been executed with the third-party Skill.
Limits of the result
- Discovery follows Sitemap declarations, including cross-host targets. Validate and approve off-domain scope.
- Checking 10 URLs cannot validate an entire large sitemap.
- A sitemap is a discovery hint, not proof of crawling or indexing.
- The upstream generation workflow includes editorial thresholds for location pages; these are not search-engine rules.
Source reviewed and Not run describe different evidence. No indexing, ranking, traffic, installation safety or blanket runtime compatibility is established here.
